Headlight restoration and maintenance

When you are driving, over 90% of your decisions depend on what you see outside, in front of you. Sunlight, sand, abrasives, ice and salt can rapidly damage your headlight lenses. Headlights lose their lighting effectiveness sometimes up to 50 % after only a few years of use.

According to a CAA-Quebec study*:
  • 30 % of vehicles show obvious or very serious signs of headlight opacity
  • Damaged lenses can reduce headlights’ lighting effectiveness by up to 50%
  • A motorist travelling 50 km/h at night will have four more seconds to react to an emergency if the headlights are in good condtion and undamaged
  • Drivers with headlights in good condtion can see road signs 60 metres sooner than with damaged headlights, the improvement in visibility varies from 92% to 1200%

CAA-Quebec recommends dealing with a specialized company to have your headlights checked every three years and have them renewed or restored when needed for best visibility.

Generally, it takes 30 minutes, but in some cases it can take take up to 45 minutes. Larger sized or very yellowed headlights , will take longer to restore. We take the necessary time to obtain the best possible result.

HOW LONG WILL RESTORED HEADLIGHTS STAY CLEAR?

This depends on several factors that widely vary - the environment, the material of the lens, the design of the lens, the surface finish, whether the vehicle is stored inside or outside, exposure to harsh cleaning products, etc. After headlight maintenance or restoration, the headlights need to be maintained every 2 to 3 months. We recommend our 2 in 1 product, which contains a cleaner and wax.

UV rays, dirt, rocks, outdoor temperatures are some factors that cause headlight aging.

Yes. The UV resistance is decreased during restauration. it is difficult to estimate how long it will take for the lights to turn yellow in comparison with a new lens.
